WormholeREST setup issues

Sun Oct 07, 2018 4:30 am

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with Part 3 "Getting WormholeCash" and creating tokens tutorial: https://developer.bitcoin.com/tutorials ... okens.html

It says:
"go to wallet/newAddress and create a new address."

The problem is I cannot access 'wallet/newAddress' and I do not have '/transaction/' REST operations available on my WormholeREST set up:

This is my WormholeREST setup
http://162.217.144.79:3000/ <- this set up is on one of my remote servers running on Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS but I've got identical problem on my laptop "localhost:3000" running on Calculate Linux (Gentoo based OS).

As a workaround, I tried to use command-line tools such as:

Code: Select all

./wormholed-cli getaccountaddress ""

Code: Select all

bchtest:qr6c5lzelgh804hzm9sxgezufqxnzz03lclsjv3uw8
But I get "invalid address" message on this address when using /dataRetrieval/balancesForAddress/{address}. That's because I need WHC which is on different protocol? However, there doesn't seem to be a command-line tool to get WHC address. As such, I am unable to obtain any funds for WHC address since I cannot obtain it.

Could somebody please advise as to why I don't have '/wallet' and '/transaction' REST link operations in my WormholeREST set up?

Thank you,
Victor.

I'm in the same boat now, I have the Digital Ocean droplet set up and fully synced, but am unable to generate a wallet through the GUI. I notice that this post is about a month old now -- did you end up figuring out the issue or is this still unresolved?

Cheers,

Hey guys, sorry to hear you're having trouble with that tutorial. It's a bit outdated, and revamping it is high on the list of the BITBOX team. I actually just taught myself how to work with Gatsby this week, so that I can help update that very same tutorial.

For faster help in the future, pop into our BITBOX and Wormhole developer channels on Discord:
https://discord.gg/GXur7m9

There is example code now for most of what you're trying to do:
https://github.com/Bitcoin-com/wormhole ... r/examples

The examples call rest.bitcoin.com by default, but if you've set up your own full node and insight server, then you setup your own copy of rest.bitcoin.com:
https://github.com/Bitcoin-com/rest.bitcoin.com

...but it's going to be a lot easier to just instantiate BITBOX or Wormhole SDKs with rest.bitcoin.com (or trest.bitcoin.com), like in the examples. There's no need for you to run your own Wormhole nodes anymore, let alone all the other infrastructure necessary.

Also, the most up-to-date API documentation for Wormhole SDK can be found here:
https://developer.bitcoin.com/wormhole/ ... ng-started

If you need testnet BCH or WHC to create your tokens, we just launched these faucets to help developers like you:
https://developer.bitcoin.com/faucets

If you have any other issues, please reach out to me (@chris.troutner) or Gabriel Cardona (@cgcardona) in the Discord channel.

Happy coding!

HI!

Thank you very much for the additional resources, they are great help. I was also studying bitcoin-ABC source in the meantime to see if I can adopt Wormhole solution from scratch using JSON-RPC technique.

Thanks,
Victor.
